The film CLOSER
Had a Netflix Saturday night. Watched the entire series of Fawlty Towers, brilliant as always. The we watched the film CLOSER, with Julia Roberts and Natalie Portman. I had high hopes for this based on the ads and the reviews, but it ended up being a load of bollocks. Do adults really behave like this, in any galaxy??

AMERICAN GOTHIC/CRIME STORY
AMERICAN GOTHIC, one of the most underrated television shows in the history of the medium is coming to DVD FINALLY!!! I think you can catch it in reruns on the SciFi channel, but it's not really SciFi, anymore than the Twilight Zone was. If you can't buy it, rent it.

Also, CRIME STORY, the excellant Micheal Mann televsion show from the late 80's is on DVD. Last year saw the release of the first season, and now we get season two. If you are a fan of The Sopranos, Goodfellas, Casino, etc., then you'll see where alot of the above came from if you watch this DVD.

Monsters Ball/Aviator/Hitch
I usually never have time to watch movies; I have alot of musical projects going on, and I usually take any free time that I have to work on the music. But, being totally exhausted I relented and sat down to watch a few movies over the past few days.......

Just got around to watching MONSTERS BALL today, and I gotta say, that was one powerful piece of art. Halle Berry deserved any kudos that she got for that role. Billy Bob Thornton, Peter Boyle, and that brave kid playing Hallie's son were all fantastic. I'm also going to search out the soundtrack CD....stunning ambient fare.

Last night we watched THE AVIATOR, and it was great as well. DiCaprio isn't really my cup of tea, but I have to admit that he did a good job. I didn't realize that NC's own Ava Gardner had been involved with Howard Hughes.

And lastly, we borrowed the movie HITCH from someone, and other than 2 or 3 laughs, it was a huge turd.
